THE MARCH MEETING is at the Wakeman Center.
On Tuesday, March 17th, Matthew Dix of North Tabor Farm will be our guest speaker. His topic is Cultivating Shiitake Mushrooms in Oak Logs.
Matthew has been the property manager for the MV Landbank for the past twenty-five years and also the co-owner of North Tabor Farm for twenty years. He has been growing Shiitake mushrooms since 1991.
Matthew's presentation will focus on the cycle of shiitake production, including strain selection, inoculation techniques, and pinning and fruiting techniques.
Until June, all meetings will be held at the WAKEMAN CONSERVATION CENTER in Vineyard Haven.
Driving to the Wakeman Center for the first time is not for the faint of heart. Although the official address of the Wakeman Center is 67 David Avenue, off of Lambert's Cove Road in Vineyard Haven, the best way to get there is via Helen Avenue. Parking at the Wakeman Center is limited. Please carpool.
