Woodside Community Garden

After reading the article ‘Flowers Among Friends’ in the September 9 issue of the MV Times, a few more MV Garden Club ‘friends’  showed up to help put the gardens at Woodside to bed, along with the renowned MVGrower, a friend of the Club's on Facebook.
Weeds were pulled, overgrown plants were divided, and beds were tended to by the Woodside gardeners along with the new ‘friends’ from the Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club that came to help.  Several residents had specific questions about plants they were growing or were planning on for next year and it was fun to share knowledge and time with this exuberant and friendly group of folks!  One of the residents was overheard saying "This was the best party I've been to in years"!  The MV Garden Club has plans to return in Spring when its time for the gardens to be planted.

Woodside Community Garden Update...May 15, 2022!

We had perfect weather on Sunday, the 15 when MV Garden Club members helped the residents of Woodside to get their gardens cleaned up and growing for the season!  Local hero, MV Grower met with Woodside's resident garden chair in the Winter, and compiled a list as to what vegetable and herb plants the residents at Woodside wanted for their gardens in the Spring.  MV Grower, the Woodside gardeners and the MV Garden Club members settled on a date to meet at Woodside to work together planting and for some light cleanup of the beds.  A good hearted friend who loves gardening even joined in!
MV Grower arrived with buckets of tomato plants, basil plants, cucumber plants and cilantro plants that she grew specifically for the residents at Woodside.   We pulled weeds, dumped soil, pruned perennials, planted plants and we had a simply lovely afternoon!  The residents were happy and the Garden Club friends left feeling happy to have shared some of what we enjoy!  A win-win for all!
Some more pics of our afternoon at Woodside below!
