We are getting ready for Blooming Art 2019!
Dear 2019 Blooming Art Arrangers,
Planning for our 2019 Blooming Art show is well under way. The dates for this year's show are Thursday, June 20 (Opening Night Celebration) - Sunday, June 23. Invitations to artists went out February 1 and we already have many positive responses.
Tickets to the Thursday night Opening will still be priced at $50 each. As this is our major fundraising event for the year, we hope you understand that we cannot provide our club arrangers with free tickets.
Each year the Club gets such good feedback on the arrangements both from the visitors to the show and from the participating artists. The artists are always impressed with the level of talent we have in our club. And, many were first-time arrangers who agreed to participate with great trepidation! We are hoping that you will again choose to create a lovely floral interpretation of an artwork that is submitted for the show.
While we are planning to have around 36 artists this year, we would like to have at least 40 arrangers committed. We need to have back-ups ready to come to the rescue when we have dropouts at the last minute.
We will again have a flower arranging demonstration just for committed arrangers on May 29 at the Wakeman Center. This will provide basics of flower arranging, including style, format, and how to think about interpreting a piece of art, and creating an arrangement in scale with the particular artwork.
Included with your commitment to create an arrangement will also be the commitment to check on your arrangement every morning before the show opens. This can include everything from watering to replacing wilted items. Four days is a long time for flowers and/or other materials you may use to continue to look perky and fresh! We want all visitors to the show to see your arrangement looking its best. You will also need to pick up your arrangement on Sunday after the show has closed or arrange to have someone else do that for you.
We will have sign-up sheets at the February, March and April meetings, and if you prefer to be a backup this year or will be teaming up with another member, please indicate that.
And, obviously, if you have already signed up, thanks so much and you don’t need to do anything else right now.
