Winter Floral Design Events for Members Only
“A Wintry Mix” Floral Design Demonstration and Soup for Lunch Too!
12noon Tuesday, January 14th at the Wakeman Center
Nancy will demonstrate how to create a floral arrangement from foraged materials available in the winter. Island artist and Garden Club member, Kanta Lipsky will also discuss color, proportion, textures and inspirations with Nancy and attendees. A light lunch of soups will be served to warm us up on a January day!
Valentine’s Day Workshop
12noon Saturday, February 8th at the Wakeman Center
We will hold our second annual Valentine’s Day workshop on Saturday, February 8th with flowers from Morrice Florist. Maximum of 16 participants. Watch for email to sign up. Cost is $35.00.

February 18th, Master Gardener Nancy Brais, an experienced educator with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association (MMGA), will present an informative talk on Gardening Ergonomics at an upcoming hybrid meeting. Her lecture, delivered via Zoom, offers members the flexibility to attend either in person or remotely. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn practical tips for gardening with ease and comfort!

March 18th, Rich Couse, Program Director at BiodiversityWorks, will present an engaging talk on the Natural Neighbors program. With an extensive background in conservation biology and environmental sciences, Rich brings valuable expertise to this initiative, which focuses on fostering connections between people and local biodiversity. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from his deep knowledge and passion for preserving our natural world!

April 15th, Master Gardener Kathi Gariepy, a Lifetime Master Gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association (MMGA), will present an engaging talk on Container Gardening. Kathi brings extensive experience as a member of the MMGA Speakers’ Bureau and has held several leadership roles within the organization, including Vice President and Chair of the Master Gardener Advisory Board. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a true gardening expert!

May 13-14th, Tom Clarke, former curator at Polly Hill Arboretum and current Director of the Mount Holyoke Botanic Garden, will deliver an enlightening talk on Rhododendrons and Azaleas. The following day, he will lead a guided tour of the Polly Hill collection, offering a unique opportunity to explore these stunning plants with an expert. Don’t miss this two-part event!

Centennial Garden Party "Thank You"
Thank you to everyone who made our Centennial Garden Party, held on August 1st at the former home of our founder, Mrs. Agnes Meikleham, such a tremendous success! The event was beautifully attended, and the funds raised will support the restoration of the Old Mill, the Garden Club’s cherished Summer Home since its purchase in 1942. We deeply appreciate the support and effort of all who participated and helped bring this special celebration to life.
