September 18, 2018 Monthly Meeting


THE SEPTEMBER MEETING is at the The Old Mill.
The program begins at 1pm.


Program:  TrailsMV is a free App created by Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation and is intended to build a community among those who love our Vineyard’s trails.  Kristen will review the key features of the TrailsMV App

ABOUT THE PROGRAM FOR SEPTEMBER:
   TrailsMV is a free App created by Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation and is intended to build a community among those who love our Vineyard’s trails.  Kristen will review the key features of the TrailsMV App which include:
  • Up-to-date accurate maps of all the open-to-the-public trails.
  • Detailed property information and photographs.
  • An Outings feature offering special walks or rides.
  • Ability to pinpoint your location and show you the direction you are headed.
  • Helps you explore with confidence.
  • Works without cell service or WIFI.
  • Information about interesting events.
  • Conservation organization information.
Soon, users will also be able to communicate with each other and with trail stewards, sharing photographs and trail information.  The App is not yet available for Android phones, but iPhone users can download it for free from the App Store. 

ABOUT KRISTEN FAUTEUX:
   Kristen Fauteux is the Director of Stewardship at the Sheriff's Meadow Foundation.  A graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1997, Kristen attended College of the Atlantic and received a B.A. in Human Ecology in 2001. She began working for Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation in 2002 as the Henry Beetle Hough Intern and has worked with Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation ever since, becoming the  Director of Stewardship in 2008.  She attended Antioch University of New England and received a Master of Science degree in Resource Management and Conservation and a Professional Science Masters in 2014.

Driving Directions to the old mill

The Old Mill is located on the Edgartown Road directly across from the Mill Pond.

Driving directions from the entrance to the MV Airport (at the intersection of Airport Road and the Edgartown:
Head west on the Edgartown Rd toward West Tisbury Center. 
Drive 3.8 miles. The Old Mill will be on your left, directly across from Mill    Pond. The driveway is immediately beyond the building. ​
Driving directions from Chilmark/Aquinnah and Alley's General Store in West Tisbury:
Note: The Old Mill is less than 1/10th of a mile from Alley's General Store.
Pass Alley's General Store on your left. Drive 200 feet, and turn right onto the Edgartown Road (toward the Airport and Edgartown).
The second driveway on your right leads to the Old Mill's parking area.

Our meetings are open to the public; there is a meeting fee of ten dollars for non-members.
