Happy Birthday to US...and what a lovely celebration it was!
The Martha's Vineyard Garden Club celebrated its 100th Birthday with a bit over 100 Garden Club members in attendance
for this casual, celebratory event at our 'home' in West Tisbury, the Old Mill!
Thanks so very much to the 'Birthday Party Committee' consisting of
Wiet Bacheller, Joan Eville, Ty Johnston, Gay Smith and Susie Wallo for their vision of this event...
and thanks to all the GC members who provided savory nibbles which were enjoyed by all in attendance.
Huge appreciation to everyone who helped in some way to make this celebration of our Centennial absolutely perfect!

Welcome to the MV Garden Club's Birthday Party...
The floral arrangements shown above in the shadowboxes were done by a handful of our talented Club members. The arrangements added perfectly to the celebratory nature of the evening! Shadowbox arrangements were done by: Nancy Cabot, Sara Dario, Allison Doriss, Anna Edey, Angela Egerton, Laurisa Rich, Leah Smith, Anda Woodward and Judi Worthington.
Thank you, ladies! The additional flowers around the Mill were arranged by the Birthday Party Committee and came from the glorious gardens of MVGC member, Jane Bradbury. Thank you, Jane!
(for those who may not know, the Bradbury property was previously owned by our Club's founder, Mrs. Agnes Meikleham)

Current Garden Club President, Ty Johnston introduced MVGC Past Presidents who attended the party.
Each was introduced, thanked for their service and presented with a 'buttonhole' corsage, made with love
(and flowers from our founder's garden!) by current Garden Club Vice President, Susie Wallo.
Below are images of the presentations and a photo of all Club Presidents behind the cake table.

Following the introduction of the MV Garden Club past presidents, the Club's current Past President and Chair of the Old Mill Committee, Susan Hobart brought the crowd up to date on the Old Mill's status regarding future improvement and plans for the Mill. In addition, Susan made two special presentations. The first was to Ty Johnston, current Club President, presenting her with the President's pin in recognition of her serving as President in the Club's Centennial Year.
The second presentation was the Outstanding Service Award awarded to Donna Arold for her work in Communications
for the Club from 2021-2024. Her name was placed on a plaque along with the names of past recipients and
she was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers. The upstairs of the Old Mill had archival photos and articles about the Club displayed along with a timeline which chronicled the Club's many achievements and contributions to the Island since 1924.

This was a special evening filled with friendship, flowers and a real sense of gratification. The evening brought to light our appreciation of each other and an appreciation of those who went before us and have kept this Club going.
Thank you again to all who made the evening come to fruition and thanks to those who attended.
