March 19, 2019 Monthly Meeting


THE MARCH MEETING is at the the Wakeman Center.
The program begins at 1pm.


PROGRAM:  Pruning: The Shape of Things to Come 

​WITH: Ian Jochems, Horticulturist/Arborist, Polly Hill Arboretum

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Ian will cover the basics of pruning, i.e., the “3D’s and 5C’s of Pruning.”  Members will learn how to care for their equipment, how to make proper cuts, and how to make decisions about pruning.  Ian will also cover a few basic plants and how to work with them. Bring your pruning questions!!

ABOUT IAN JOCHEMS:
In addition to being the Arborist/Horticulturist at the Polly Hill Arboretum, Ian also owns Jochems Tree Care and Consulting.  He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist.
Originally from Colorado, Ian graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Environmental Horticulture with a concentration in Nursery Production and Management.

From now until spring,  all meetings will be held at the WAKEMAN CONSERVATION CENTER in Vineyard Haven.  
Parking at the Wakeman Center is limited.  Please carpool.

Our meetings are open to the public;  there is a meeting fee of ten dollars for non-members.
