PROGRAM: Don’t Break Your Back: Exercises for Gardeners
with Susan Sanford, President and CEO

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Susan will review the “Six B’s:” Bottom, Belly, Box, Blades, Bobbleneck, and Breathing - a strategy for safe movement and optimum posture and alignment. The application will be specific for gardening activities and she will show exercises that will prevent injury and pain.
ABOUT SUSAN:
Susan Stanford is a licensed Physical Therapist as well as a Certified Sports Medicine Acupuncturist. She is a Diplomate of Acupuncture (Board certified by the National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.)
Susan has a passion for solving problems and assisting her clients on the path to pain relief and healing. Her specialized skill set and background of physical therapy with Chinese Medicine theory and complementary medicine techniques is invaluable for helping to resolve and manage difficult cases of sciatica, low back pain, arthritis, and musculoskeletal injuries.
She moved to the Vineyard in 1997 and opened Vineyard Complementary Medicine in 2003.
Susan is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BS in Physical Therapy and holds a Masters Degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, as well as its Private Practice Section and its Orthopedic Special Section. Locally, she is a member of the Dukes County Health Council and its Healthy Aging Committee. She is also an Advisory Board Member to Vineyard Healthcare Access.
