February 19, 2019 Monthly Meeting

THE FEBRUARY MEETING is at the the Wakeman Center.
The program begins at 1pm.

PROGRAM:  Going Green: How We Can Use the Lessons Learned at Solviva Farm

With Anna Edey, Garden Club Member and creator of
Solviva Farm, West Tisbury

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Anna will talk about her experiences with Solviva Farm since it began in 1978. She will share what she learned along the way and what she knows is possible for us to do, here and now, for a much better and, infinitely, sustainable future. She will touch upon all aspects of our lives, including food production, heating, cooling, electricity, transportation, wastewater and solid waste recycling.  And, she will help us understand what we can do in our own homes. Finally, she has some really good-news information to empower us with fresh hope!

ABOUT ANNA:
Anna started Solviva Farm in 1978, to seek better ways to live - more reliable, easier, healthier, and causing near-zero CO2 and other harm, and also less costly.  The many unique designs in her home and then, the greenhouse, proved successful beyond highest hopes. She was the first to incorporate chickens within a greenhouse, and the first to produce ready-to-eat mixed salad greens and edible flowers, astonishing amounts every week, without any heating fuels or pesticides even through the worst blizzards.  Widespread publicity and awards followed, and Anna wrote two books about her experiences and recommendations:  Solviva(1998) and Green Light at the End of the Tunnel (2014).
