The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club Scholarship Fund
In a commitment to encourage future generations to preserve and improve our island and make the world a better and more beautiful place, the Club awards scholarships to Vineyard high school students bound for a college major in a field related to horticulture, landscape, environmental studies, farming, or other connected areas of study.
Open to all graduating Martha’s Vineyard high school seniors and prior MVGC scholarship recipients; the scholarship is available subject to the approval of the MVGC Board of Directors annually. Scholarships are funded by member donations and proceeds from club operations. As a result of membership and community generosity, the Crlub has awarded over $30,000 in scholarships to Island graduates.
The Club's Scholarship Committee reviews all applications and awards are based on consideration of factors such as proposed field of study, GPA, extracurricular activities, employment, and stated financial need.
The recipient is presented with the scholarship award at Senior Class Night by a member of the Scholarship Committee. You may donate via our website by clicking HERE.

Windemere Flower and Craft Program
Each month, Garden Club volunteers bring the joy of flowers to residents at Windemere Nursing & Rehabilitation Center through hands-on flower arranging sessions. Led by Joan Eville, this uplifting program brightens both rooms and spirits. Thanks to the generous support of Donaroma’s Nursery (flowers) and Chicken Alley Thrift Shop (vases), residents enjoy creating personalized arrangements that add beauty to their space. Want to get involved? Contact Joan to volunteer and help share the joy of nature with our community. |

Preserving the Old Mill – A Community Commitment
|
The Old Mill in West Tisbury—the town’s oldest industrial building—has been a cornerstone of island history since the 1600s. Rescued from demolition by the Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club in 1937 and purchased in 1942, the Old Mill remains a vibrant community hub and is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Ongoing Restoration Through Community Support The Old Mill Preservation Fund supports essential maintenance and improvements to this historic landmark. Funded by donations, membership contributions, and proceeds from Blooming Art and our annual Spring Plant Sale, this fund enables us to:
Thanks to Community Preservation Act (CPA) grants and generous donors, we continue to enhance the Mill’s safety and longevity. In 2024, five Island towns—Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, and West Tisbury—each contributed in support. How You Can Help We receive no federal or local operating funds--individual donations are vital. Your support ensures the Old Mill remains a welcoming and functional space for events, exhibits, and educational programs open to the whole island community. Please consider a donation today via our website. Every gift helps preserve this treasured landmark for generations to come. |
