Centennial Garden Party
What a lovely evening it was!

Picture
The Martha's Vineyard Garden Club celebrated its Centennial with a spectacular 'fun and fleurty' Garden Party, held at the former home of our Club's founder, Mrs. Agnes Meikleham on Aufust 1, 2024.  Here are a few images from the event and a note from Garden Club Vice President and Garden Party coordinator, Susie Wallo.  Much appreciation to our gracious hostess,  Jane and to Susie for the stunning attention to detail and the obvious love that was put into making this celebration simply perfect!

Blue skies, gentle breezes from Edgartown harbor, exquisite string music, scrumptious nibbles and refreshing libations all set the stage for our Centennial Garden Party at Jane and Ivan's home on August 1st.  Mrs. Meikleham looking down on the festivities I am sure, enjoyed every minute of the party.

The owner’s tireless efforts in her gardens were seen everywhere and the pièce de resistance was the Union Jack Garden. In my opinion the grounds have never looked quite so beautiful.

Ty welcomed all to the party, Jane's remarks captured the beauty and specialness of their home and what amazing stewards they have been of Mrs. Meikleham's home and her legacy. It is because of Mrs. Meikleham and her mighty band that we are celebrating our 100th Anniversary this year. Susan spoke eloquently of all of the updates the Old Mill has undergone this past year and the plans for the next phase. All of the proceeds from the Garden Party will go to helping make the next phase a reality.

The beautiful arrangements were created using flowers from the gardens. We had a lovely almost zen time making the arrangements. What fun.

Jane with Libby Ellis produced a special keepsake remembrance booklet of Mrs. Meikleham and her home. If you were not able to attend and would like a copy of the booklet, we will have some for sale at our next meeting. All the proceeds from the booklet will go to the Old Mill Restoration Fund.

Thank you to our docents, Susan, Donna and Ken, Ty and Bob, Pat, Wiet, and Deb.  You all were so welcoming, kind and just plain lovely! Thank you.

It has been an honor and privilege to have worked with Jane to create such a one-of-a-kind celebration of our Centennial.

And I must say that I could not have done this without the love and support of Donna. She was my anchor.
Thank you to those who were able to join us for the most festive of celebrations. Cheers to us!!!
